PCI Skanska climbs 70 spots in ENR’s top designers ranking

PCI Skanska, Skanska USA’s in-house engineering group, ranks number 327 on ENR magazine’s latest list of the Top 500 Design Firms, based on its 2013 revenue of $33.5 million. That is up from number 397 in last year’s ranking, thanks to a 30 percent rise in revenue. PCI President Jeff Deig is hoping One Skanska collaboration will help boost that figure even higher.

Skanska team selected for $2.3 billion Florida P3 highway project

For Florida’s biggest-ever transportation project – the $2.3 billion task of rebuilding and expanding a congested stretch of Interstate 4 through Orlando – the Florida Department of Transportation has chosen a Skanska consortium, I-4 Mobility Partners. This public-private partnership assignment includes design, build, finance, operate and maintain responsibilities. Contract negotiations are underway, with construction expected to start in early 2015 and conclude in 2021, with an O&M contract term of 40 years. With USA Building’s nationwide roll-out of Oracle’s Primavera P6 scheduling software nearly complete, teams are gaining greater access to their project’s scheduling files. This enables them to view, sort, filter, print and even make minor schedule updates, freeing the Scheduling Group to focus on tasks requiring more of their expertise.

Around the globe: Prime minister visits Skanska UK, as it announces creation of 1,500 jobs

David Cameron, prime minister of the United Kingdom, visited Skanska UK’s headquarters near London last week as our UK business unit announced the creation of about 1,500 jobs over the next two- to three years to handle recent contract wins. Cameron was joined by Chancellor George Osborne, with the visit by this pair of leading British politicians intending to signify the growing strength of the UK economy.

USA Civil joint venture recommended for $927 million Los Angeles award

Staff with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority have recommended to their board of directors that a joint venture of Skanska and Traylor Bros. be awarded a $927 million contract to build a major subway link in L.A’s Metro system: the Downtown Regional Connector. While this contract has not yet been finalized, learn more about this project – which would be our first underground transit job on the West Coast – in the article linked here.
