White House shows more support for public-private partnerships

As a prelude to President Obama’s State of the Union address last week, the White House unveiled a new batch of proposals and initiatives aimed at drawing more private money to invest in U.S. infrastructure. To show support for such steps, Rich Cavallaro, Skanska USA’s president and CEO, shared a post on our blog in which he said he was encouraged by increased federal attention to public-private partnerships.

We secured a $70 million contract to restore New York City bridges damaged during Hurricane Sandy in 2012, a $49 million contract to renovate a Philadelphia residential tower, and a $65 million contract to expand a central Texas hospital.

ENR Top 20 Under 40 honorees in Oakland and Phoenix

The strength of our people can be seen in that both Oakland’s Greg Roth and Phoenix’s Kevin Connor were named to their respective Top 20 Under 40 List by ENR California and ENR Southwest. Roth and Connor – and the other winners – represent the “best of the best” in design and construction, and they were selected in part based on their industry leadership and their community involvement.

New EVP for USA Civil’s West Region

New EVP for USA Civil’s West Region

Brian Stieritz has joined Skanska as executive vice president of USA Civil’s West Region. In this role, he will provide executive oversight of Civil’s Northern California, Northwest and Rocky Mountain districts, reporting to West Chief Operating Officer Don Fusco and working side by side with Executive Vice President Mike Aparicio. In announcing leadership changes in early December, Civil CEO Mike Cobelli said a new EVP of Civil’s re-aligned West Region would soon be named.
