PCI Skanska climbs 70 spots in ENR’s top designers ranking

PCI Skanska, Skanska USA’s in-house engineering group, ranks number 327 on ENR magazine’s latest list of the Top 500 Design Firms, based on its 2013 revenue of $33.5 million. That is up from number 397 in last year’s ranking, thanks to a 30 percent rise in revenue.

PCI, based in Evansville, Ind., specializes in industrial, power and manufacturing projects, but also works on general building assignments. Jeff Deig, PCI Skanska’s president, attributes the jump to two main factors: a surge in engineering, procuring and constructing skid-mounted equipment for such uses as gas- and liquid fuel piping, compressors and power distribution (with much of this fabrication being done in-house by Skanska) and more work designing controls systems for industrial and power clients.

With about 150 employees, PCI is licensed to do engineering work in 24 states. Only about 10 percent of PCI’s work is internal for other Skanska projects, but PCI hopes to increase that figure.

“We’ve just hit the tip of the iceberg,” Deig said of One Skanska collaboration. “There’s tons of potential.”
