Skanska advances up global contractors ranking

In ENR magazine’s Top 250 Global Contractors ranking, Skanska advanced one position to the 15th slot, based on the $18.5 billion of worldwide construction revenue we reported to ENR.

The accompanying article states that while large international contractors are finding much work, competition is increasing and project financing is often an issue, “forcing even the largest and most sophisticated contractors to be nimble in squeezing out the most value from their processes.”

Johan Karlstrom, chairman and CEO of the Skanska group, is quoted several times in the story. He states that looking at the international scene overall, “we have a very positive view of the markets.”

He also commented on our recent successes in the U.K. saying that, “We have doubled our order intake in the first half [of 2014] compared to last year.”

Additionally, Karlstrom said that although abundant construction opportunities in Sweden are attracting many international builders, there seems to be enough work to go around.

On the companion Top 250 International Contractors ranking based on firms’ contracting revenue outside of their home countries, Skanska also moved up one position, to number eight.
