Commemorating 50 years in Evansville

Celebrating our proud history in Evansville

Skanska’s Evansville, Ind., office celebrated 50 years of extraordinary efforts in serving clients with a special evening reception October 7 that included current employees, retirees, partners and community leaders. One of the 400-plus attending the event was Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, who declared it Industrial Contractors Skanska 50th Anniversary Week in that city.

Industrial Contractors was established as a stand-alone entity on Sept. 23, 1964, by Charles Braun Sr. Braun mortgaged his home to purchase Industrial Contractors from Polaris Corp., a Milwaukee-based holding company. Polaris had acquired Industrial Contractors from another Evansville company, Traylor Brothers. Skanska purchased Industrial Contractors in December 2011.

“Charles Braun had great vision when he started the company in 1964, and he understood that the key to success was surrounding himself with the best people,” said Denny Quinn, executive vice president. “All of the great projects that ICS has constructed over 50 years – from the Evansville skyline to the industrial facilities and power plants – are a testament to this vision. It was inspiring to see our current employees and retirees come together with our customers, labor management, suppliers and community representatives to celebrate the relationships and hard work that has made it all possible.”
