ENR Top 20 Under 40 honorees in Oakland and Phoenix

The strength of our people can be seen in that both Oakland’s Greg Roth and Phoenix’s Kevin Connor were named to their respective Top 20 Under 40 List by ENR California and ENR Southwest. Roth and Connor – and the other winners – represent the “best of the best” in design and construction, and they were selected in part based on their industry leadership and their community involvement, according to ENR magazine.

Roth, 35, is a project manager and senior estimator. He has estimated a diverse collection of projects valued at more than $3 billion, and he is now part of the team erecting the steel for San Francisco’s Transbay Transit Center, the Grand Central Station of the West. Roth’s nomination, from Preconstruction Manager Mike Nelson and Project Engineer Amanda Hu, notes his work in developing templates and tools that are used across USA Building’s California estimating teams, and that he is a vital part of Building’s national Project Planning Group. Perhaps more significantly, Roth is a lead mentor and trainer to many of our California employees, and he started the San Francisco chapter of Skanska Young Professionals: that chapter has grown to more than 75 employees. A former high school teacher, Roth began his Skanska career in New York. Click here to read the entire list of California Top 20 Under 40 winners.

Connor, 38, is a project director with our Mission Critical Center of Excellence. He has managed more than $400 million of significant data center projects in the U.S. and Canada, including the $250 million Project Topaz in South Jordan, Utah, and two projects for Telus totaling more than $125 million. Connor’s nomination, by Arizona Manager Rob Cortazzo, notes that his career has taken him to eight states and two Canadian provinces. Connor has quickly adapted and thrived no matter where he’s at, including a remote part of French-speaking Quebec that presented him with significant cultural differences. Having extensive knowledge of lean construction processes, Connor is currently working on mission critical projects in the Southwest, including CyrusOne and IBM Silicon Valley, both out of our Phoenix office. Click here to read the entire list of Southwest Top 20 Under 40 winners.
