Fatality at Philadelphia-area project

A worker was killed Monday, March 30, during construction operations at the Sunoco project near Philadelphia at which USA Civil is working as a subcontractor. Jeff Shannon was an employee of AECOM/URS for more than 20 years. He was 49 years old and leaves behind a family and many friends.

“It is times like these that crystalize the importance of living IFE every day,” Mike Cobelli, USA Civil president and CEO, said Tuesday in an email. “Jeff was not an employee of Skanska, but when we are living IFE, we are making sure everyone on a construction jobsite is safe. That is the ultimate goal. Everyone deserves to go home safely. Yesterday, regretfully, that didn’t happen.”

Skanska is offering every resource at our disposal to assist officials and our client in investigating the incident. Once the investigation is complete, we will take everything that we learned from the incident to keep people safe in the future.

Additionally, we will notify you of the date for the Global Safety Stand Down.
