USA Civil Hosts Family Safety Day

On September 15, Civil Northeast hosted its annual Family Safety Day at its office in Queens,N.Y. Skanska employees brought their children to the event to teach them important safety tips directly from Skanska’s safety council, New York City Police Department (NYPD), New York City Fire Department (FDNY) and The Alley Pond Environmental Center.

The Alley Pond Environmental Center brought live animals to the event, teaching the importance of environmental protection and the planet’s endangered species. The FDNY took the children and their parents through a smokehouse, offering invaluable tips on how to react quickly in the case of a fire. NYPD officials also fingerprinted the children, while a physician’s assistant spoke about the importance of personal health.

This year, 339 children and 366 adults participated in the annual event.

  1. It’s great to see Skanska in the community, providing resources for future generations. It’s important that we stress safety to our children and this is a great forum for them to learn about it.

  2. This is a great way to illustrate that family and safety are important to Skanska.

  3. Having the HUB is a great resource to so much information of “what is now” with Skanska.

  4. This is a great idea to get the entire family involved and thinking safety. The community involvement tie-in with the FD and PD with the smokehouse and fingerprinting is a wonderful idea.
