About 60 colleagues of various athletic abilities nationwide are doing an Ironman: 2.4 miles of swimming, followed by 112 miles of cycling and then topped off with a 26.2-mile marathon run. But rather than doing those distances back-to-back as in an Ironman race, in this Endurance Challenge organized by Atlanta’s Jimmy Mitchell and Andrewn Jackson participants have the entire month of August to reach the finish line.

After the Seattle Seahawks lost to the Atlanta Falcons in the N.F.C. divisional playoffs earlier this month, the wager between our Atlanta and Seattle offices required that our Seattle colleagues fly the Falcons’ banner in their lobby for a week. And so Seattle safely hoisted that banner last week in what was described as a difficult and painful process.

That the Atlanta Falcons couldn’t outmatch the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday’s N.F.C. championship game was not for lack of support from our Atlanta office. Our Atlanta team members demonstrated their Falcons spirit by wearing Falcons shirts and jerseys to work last Friday.
