Grand plans for LaGuardia Airport

Vice President Joe Biden joined New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in Manhattan last week to unveil Cuomo’s transformative vision for LaGuardia Airport: it unites LaGuardia’s disconnected terminals into a structurally unified main terminal. The first phase is the replacement of the current Central Terminal Building, which is being procured through a public-private partnership for which Skanska’s LaGuardia Gateway Partners consortium has been chosen as preferred bidder. The second phase is another major terminal project.

The Skanska team – and the two others shortlisted – continue to wait for news of which group will be selected for LaGuardia Airport’s $2 billion-plus Central Terminal Building Replacement Project, as described in this ENR article. A decision by the client, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, may come as late as September. Our One Skanska approach for this public-private partnership effort includes Infrastructure Development North America, USA Building and USA Civil, as well as top industry partners.

Aviation Center of Excellence reorganizes

To capitalize on our Aviation Center of Excellence’s successes, strengthen its presence and support continued national growth, MacAdam Glinn is being promoted to ACOE national director. This restructuring allows Jim Clemens the ability to focus full time on continuing to grow national relationships as national account manager for United, Delta and Southwest airlines; to oversee operations at numerous airports; and to collaborate with local offices on aviation pursuits.

Skanska team submits final proposal for major LaGuardia Airport P3 project

The Skanska team on May 20 turned in its final submittal for the Central Terminal Building Replacement Project at New York’s LaGuardia Airport. Our team’s hope and expectation is that the 20-plus-box submittal will turn into a large public-private partnership project that would involve three Skanska business units – Infrastructure Development, USA Building and USA Civil – working to improve the flying experience for New Yorkers.
