Look for your new copy of The Three Deadly Sins

You will soon find on your desk a copy of our Chairman Stu Graham’s The Three Deadly Sins book, which emphasizes making sure that every project we undertake avoids three conditions: wrong people, wrong place and wrong customer. Accompanying the book will be a letter from Mike McNally, Skanska USA president and CEO, explaining that Sins’ messages are as important today as they were when the book was first published 10 years ago.

The U.S. Green Building Council and the American Chemistry Council announced August 27 that they’ll be working together to improve LEED, marking a big shift from ACC’s previous stance of attacking LEED. You may recall that last summer Skanska USA CEO Mike McNally publicly withdrew Skanska from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce over this issue, as the Chamber was supporting a group affiliated with ACC and working against LEED. McNally retiring January 1, Cavallaro to lead Skanska USA

Mike McNally, Skanska USA president and CEO, announced he is retiring January 1 after 35 years in construction and six years in his current role. Rising to fill his spot overseeing our U.S. construction operations and serving on Skanska AB’s Senior Executive Team is Rich Cavallaro, who for the last five years has been president and CEO of USA Civil. Mike Cobelli, a 30-year Skanska employee who is now Civil’s chief operating officer, will move up to lead Civil. Mike McNally, Skanska USA president and CEO, talked to Bloomberg news service about Skanska’s U.S. growth plans, including in California and Texas and with projects related to low-cost energy. (Note that although the article mentions a Skanska joint venture’s project to build Apple’s new headquarters, McNally did not discuss this with the reporter – we’re not allowed to mention this confidential project externally.)
